This section of the EuroVelo 13 route in Finland follows the country’s eastern border, staying as close to Russia as possible all the way north to Näätämö. The route is appealing for its quiet, well-maintained roads and Finland’s stunning forest landscapes.
In South Karelia, the Iron Curtain Route can be cycled from Lappeenranta to Parikkala, with the option to return to Imatra via former border zone areas.
