Traveling in the Saimaa Archipelago is both easy and an unforgettable experience with bike ferries and cable ferries. The free cable ferries operate 24/7, transporting travelers across waterways, while bike ferries run according to a set schedule. Tickets for bike ferries must be purchased in advance via their respective websites, and ticket sales close two hours before departure. The Rasti bike ferry operates on the Taipalsaari Sarviniemi – Kyläniemi Fishing Harbor route, as well as the Sarviniemi – Lintusalo, Puumala route, accommodating up to 25 cyclists. The Norppa II ferry carries 20 cyclists on the Puumala route, while the Utula ferry operates between Utula and Äitsaari in Ruokolahti, with space for three cyclists at a time. The Kyläniemi cable ferry transports cyclists along with vehicles, and cyclists board after larger vehicles. Please note that the ferry takes scheduled breaks at 9:00–9:20, 11:40–12:00, 17:00–17:20, and 19:40–20:00. m/s Rasti ferry
The Rasti bike ferry operates on the routes Taipalsaari Sarviniemi – Kyläniemi Fishing Harbor and Sarviniemi – Lintusalo, Puumala. During midsummer, the Rasti ferry also takes passengers to Ruhonsaari, a popular boating destination and a natural haven. On Ruhonsaari, you’ll find sandy beaches, a sauna, multiple campfire spots, and peaceful areas for pitching a tent or setting up a hammock.

Utula ferry
The Utula ferry offers an alternative route along the quiet roads of Äitsaari and Salosaari, transporting cyclists and pedestrians between Utula and Äitsaari with advance reservations. This route allows you to enjoy idyllic countryside landscapes along the way. The ferry operates daily in summer from May 31 to August 24, Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Reservations must be made at least 12 hours in advance. For last-minute availability, you can inquire by calling +358 500 120 101.
